Booking a daytime room as a couple: rates, billing, and the best slots

In the evening the children aren't asleep yet; at the weekend the whole family is home. For a lot of couples the easiest window to arrange is the middle of a weekday — while the children are at school and you can both find a few hours. This piece sets out what it costs, how the billing works, and which slot to pick.

Why a weekday daytime is the easiest slot of all

Three very practical reasons:

It is quiet. The peak for an hourly hotel is the evening, particularly at weekends. In the middle of a weekday you can more or less have whichever room you like — including the special categories that disappear first in the evening.

You aren't inventing a story about your day. A lunch break is time that already exists for both of you; it isn't taken from the children.

It is long enough for a proper sleep. For couples with small children, two hours of sleep without being woken is sometimes worth more than an evening out.

Rates and how hourly billing works

Three things to know:

1. Part-hours of 15 minutes round up to a full hour. Stay 2 hours 20 minutes and you are charged for 3.
2. The total for one hourly stay never exceeds that same category's full-day rate. Oversleeping can't inflate the bill.
3. Ask the per-hour rate at check-in. It differs by category, and knowing it in advance means no surprise on the way out.

A worked example: check in at 12:00, leave at 15:00 — three hours. The first two are 250,000đ and the third is charged at your category's hourly rate. If that category's full-day rate is 600,000đ, then even staying into the late afternoon the total stops at 600,000đ.

Which category for a few daytime hours

The criteria in daylight differ from the evening — light and quiet matter more than atmosphere:

• If you only want to sleep and shower: Romantic or the 30 sqm Luxury at Hotel 2 — sufficient, and the easiest on the budget across the group.
• If you want a soak for a stiff back: the 33 sqm Couple Bath Room at Hotel 2, or room 1101 at Luxury and room 602 at Van Phat.
• If you want lunch in the room: the 50 sqm APARTMENT at Van Phat has a dining table and its own kitchen.
• If you are between appointments in the centre: Van Phat Hotel, 61 Pham Viet Chanh, District 1 — no long ride involved.

The other three properties (Luxury, Hotel 1, Hotel 2) are in the Trung Son residential area, Binh Hung commune, beside District 7 and about 10 – 15 minutes from District 1.

Charges that can arise

Said in advance so nothing surprises you. This is everything beyond the room itself:

• A third guest: 100,000đ on an hourly stay, 250,000đ overnight. House rules cap a room at two people, so this rarely applies to a couple.
• Changing rooms by preference more than 10 minutes after checking in: a 250,000đ housekeeping charge. Look carefully at the room photographs before committing.
• Early check-in or late check-out — these apply only to overnight guests: 100,000đ – 150,000đ per hour by room type. Hourly guests have neither, and can check in at any point in the day.

On payment: cash, credit card and bank transfer are accepted. If you have paid a deposit and cancel more than 24 hours before the check-in date, it is refunded in full; later than that, it is not.

Frequently asked questions

Is a daytime room more expensive than an evening one? No. The hourly rates apply across the whole 09:00 – 23:30 window regardless of the time of day. The 150,000đ discount applies only to guests checking in after 22:00, Sunday to Thursday.

Which daytime slot is quietest? Generally mid-week from 09:00 to around 15:00. It is also when the special categories are easiest to get, since those tend to go in the evening.

How is a three-hour stay billed? The first two hours are 250,000đ and the third is charged at that category's hourly rate (100,000đ – 150,000đ). The total never exceeds that category's full-day rate.

What if you oversleep and go well over? The hourly charges keep accumulating but stop at the full-day rate. You don't need to switch to a daily booking — the system stops there by itself.
